Appearance:
Mika is relatively short with shoulder-length lavender hair. She’s very thin from years of malnourishment upon years of high activity. While she doesn’t have much fat, she does have enough muscle and strength to do a hand-stand for half an hour. She normally wears skin-tight black clothing along with pants of any kind. Her favorite outfits don’t cover her arms and legs completely. She’s extremely nimble and flexible, and prefers high-up places (like tree branches, rooftops and the tops of the sails), which causes her preference to tight clothing so people can’t see up her shirt. She has a pale, even complexion from nocturnal activities, violet eyes and a tattoo of a wolf howling on her back, between her shoulder blades.
Height: 5’4
Weight: 145
Personality: Childish and sometimes very annoying, Mika often likes toying with people by confusing them and moving around their belongings. While often bright, cheery and optimistic, Mika has a dark side to her. She doesn’t like talking about her past and will often change the subject or run off after being asked about it. She thinks no one could understand or respect her for her dream. While she likes teasing people, she’s not at all a social creature and would rather observe social events than take part in them. When exposed or pointed out, she often plays cool and cracks a joke, then waits for the attention to turn away from her. She disappears in a split second.
Island of Birth: Toroa
Which Blue: West Blue
Character History:
Mika Aida lived as an orphan on Toroa, an island in West Blue. She never knew her parents and had no memory of them. She, in recent years, assumes they simply left her on the streets of Toroa after feeding her the Hiso Hiso no Mi and sailed off somewhere. No one in Totoa adopted her and from the age of five to ten, she lived off of scraps thrown out by waitresses and money she stole from the loose pockets of tourists. Needless to say, such a life is sobering at such a young age, but pick-pocketting was easy when she had the help from the multiple brightly colored birds that flew around Toroa and the Hiso Hiso no Mi. Soon, marines landed on the island. They were looking for a pirate that was said to be spotted nearby. Unfortunately, Mika decided he was a good victim to pick-pocket. She was caught and beaten. The captain ordered five of his men to take her out to sea and maroon her on a deserted island nearby. Mika could only glare at him. Life alone on an island didn't seem nearly as harsh as living with heartless humans that passed her by and ignored her everyday. It took three days to get there, and when they arrived, Mika was promptly thrown ashore and left for dead. The island wasn't nearly as deserted as they thought, Mika soon found. A huge pack of wolves lived there, and Mika managed to win them over with the Hiso Hiso no Mi. They made her a part of the pack, fed and sheltered her, under one condition. She was to protect the island- the holiest of places for these wolves. Mika agreed hesitantly.
Three years passed and Mika learned protecting the island wasn't nearly as hard as she'd thought it would be. Pirates, civilans, traders and fishermen stopped by to look for a rumored treasure, and all Mika had to do was leap down from the thick canopy and scream bloody murder. Soon, the rumors of a ghostly wild-child added onto the tales of treasure, and more adventure-seeking pirates ventured through. By the time Mika was thirteen, some real, tough pirates came through. Mika thought of them no differently and tried to scare them off- but the pirates paid her little to no mind, travelling deeper into the woods, nearer and nearer to the wolves' den. Mika finally leapt on a pirate's back and took his dagger, standing shakily before them and ordering them to turn back before she killed every last one of them. For a minute, the pirates were silent. Then, finally, the pirate she'd stolen from burst into loud hoots of laughter. Mika didn't know rather or not to be ofended or embarrased, but she tensed when the man came nearer. He came to stand behind her and knelt beside her. Covering both her hands with his own, he said, "You're holding it wrong," and proceeded to correct her stance.
The pirates took Mika in as their own, teaching her everything from knife-fighting to piracy. Her favorite, the navigator, taught her the proper way to sail a ship, read a compass, recognize weather patterns and get through storms safely. Mika absorbed this information. The pirates only stayed on the island for a month, and when they left, Mika went with them. It was hard separating from her pack, but they comforted her, telling her she belonged with people. Mika sailed as an unknown pirate with those pirates until she was fourteen. Then, during a major marine battle, the navigator scooped her from the battle and threw a messenger back with first aid supplies, food and water, a change of clothes and two daggers into a small rowboat, then lowered her into it. He told her he trusted her to navigate well enough to get herself to an island, and one day they would definitely meet again. Mika frantically tried to oppose him, but she, inside the rowboat, was thrown into the waves. Before she knew it, the ship was merely a dot on the horizon. Then, nothing.
Two years passed and now Mika jumps ship to ship, stowing away or temporarily joining pirate crews to get place to place. Her main goal is, and always will be, to find the pirate crew that treated her so nicely, or maybe make nakama of her own, with a crew that she could honestly love like a family.
