Mika Aida tried to be open minded when it came to meeting new people. There were over a hundred different things that could happen to someone in one lifetime, there were a lot of things that could make someone cynical and mean, untrusting and rude. No matter what had happened to them, she refused to believe there was any reason to kill someone who you'd never met before. And that, unfortunately, was what she'd witnessed on the last island. The Red Cross Pirates had docked, waited to acquire the needed rations and maps, raided the village, then proceeded to burn it to the ground. Mika was too late to help, she simply jumped on the nearest ship, not realizing that ship belonged to the Red Cross Pirates.
"I'll kill them, Rani, I swear I will," Mika mumbled. She was mopping the decks- a mundane chore she was used to from working on ships when she wasn't in the mood to stow away. Rani was her ever-present companion, a seabird with beautiful, snow-white feathers and a pretty yellow beak. Rani would've never followed Mika if they didn't share a hatred for marines. Marines had ruined the only good thing in her life- marines had destroyed Rani's nest, wiping out her mate and eggs. Mika met Rani on the last island and communicated with her through her Devil's Fruit power; the Hiso Hiso no Mi allowed her to listen to Rani's true feelings. Basically it was just talking, but on a deeper level than she could ever communicate with humans.
Rani only looked at Mika like she always did; a sort of black eyed animal way of saying, 'grin and bear it, you can't move on without them.'
Mika would beg to differ.
"Hey, cabin girl!" A drunken pirate called, "Cap'n wants to see us port side ASAP. Even you."
Mika nodded, following the man to the vessel's port side. Playing the part of a cabin girl for vicious pirates with more blood on their hands then in their bodies wasn't appealing, but she was stuck for it. Luckily, they weren't the type to be too upset when a crew mate goes missing, and that was exactly what Mika planned on doing on the next island. Rani had already agreed; neither of them liked this group.
A large group was forming on the port side, and the captain of the Red Cross Pirates; Evan 'Crossed' Greys was standing on the railing outside of the kitchen's door. The second level of the ship was guarded with railing, so if he fell back, he'd be caught by the hardwood decks. If he fell forward, he would land on his crew- most of which would scurry away. Maybe one loyal idiot would attempt to catch him. Mika wouldn't be that idiot.
"Ah, you're all here now," the captain said, once Mika and the crew mate arrived. Funny, Mika clearly noticed the first mate wasn't present. Some captain Evan was. "A cruise ship was spotted off the port bow, and we all know what that means! Riches galore for any mate brave enough to board the ship! I want you to bring her close and suck her dry- kill anyone who stands in your way, and when we're done, we'll set her ablaze!" The crew cheered, like this was a fun way to spend an evening. Mika's stomach curled. From the roof, Rani was emmitting a dangerously angry aura. "Who'll board with me? And which cursed cowards will guard the ship while we're gone?!"
Mika raised her hand quickly, giving a lazy, two-fingered wave. "I'll go with you," she stated flatly. She drew both daggers, flipping them expertly and slashing outwards.
The captain laughed, "Are you kidding me? Only the lowly cabin girl is brave enough to step forward?"
At that taunt, more men stepped forward. Soon, over half the crew was ready to board the ship. As they huddled towards the port side, a few men lowered their jolly roger to reel in the cruise ship, hoping to fool them into believing they were merchants or fishermen. The captain waved a flag, and the ship headed towards them quickly.
"What are you doing?" Rani whispered, her voice running smoothly in the back of her head. "I thought you hated these guys; why are you volunteering to kill innocent people?!"
Mika only smiled. Locking eyes with the seabird, she whispered back, without moving her lips at all, "I'm not. I'm going to sabotage this lovely little outing."
